What is Vietnam Health Clinic?
Vietnam Health Clinic (VHC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to expanding healthcare access and services to under-resourced communities and nurturing leadership and professional development among VHC student member volunteers. Their services can be accessed through their Mobile Health Clinic in which various healthcare professionals provide healthcare services which include, but are not limited to: medical, dental, optometric, pharmaceutical, therapeutic, and public health services.

During the 2021-2022 academic year, our participating regional partners managed to raise $59,531.84 for our beneficiary, Asian Prisoner Support Committee!
Our highest-ranking regional fundraisers were:
- MAUVSA – $32,925.83
- Midwest – $17,585.30
- South – $7,400.00
Without the contribution and support of our constituency, this would not have been possible. We are excited to see these funds go towards a great cause!

The Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP) is an initiative for Vietnamese students and community organizations to collaborate and partner with in working towards one charitable cause. The idea was to create momentum for a collective effort under one philanthropic campaign. CPP assists North American Vietnamese nonprofit/philanthropic organizations to better achieve their mission through collective and collaborative partnership with UNAVSA and its constituent groups.
How CPP works
Selection
- The liaison between UNAVSA and non-profits interested in being the next CPP beneficiary
- The top 2-3 applicants are voted at UNAVSA’s Annual Leadership Conference
Campaign
- Raises awareness of the current CPP beneficiary’s mission, vision, and programs
- Drives fundraising and campaign efforts for the beneficiary

Works with previous beneficiaries to ensure the completion of intended projects

Mission Statement and Vision
In addition to what was said above, the World Health Organization’s constitution says, “The enjoyment of the highest attainable health care is one of the fundamental rights of every human
being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic social condition.” VHC shares this belief as they believe everyone has the right to equal access to essential healthcare services regardless of your background.
2023-2024 CPP Beneficiary
Rock-Paper-Scissors
Founded in November 2012, the Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund was established by Sara Stevens Nerone and her two daughters, Sophie and Phoebe Nerone. After teaching art and violin lessons at a local orphanage in Vietnam, the Nerone family came back to the United States and founded Rock-Paper-Scissors Children’s Fund in order to provide ample resources and education to continue teaching the arts to underprivileged children in Vietnam.
CPP Fellowship
Fellows will be part of a three-month-long paid and remote fellowship where they will be paired with an organization currently addressing human rights and living conditions in Vietnam.
The goal of this program is to provide fellows with important skills that are heavily desired by employers in the workplace while offering them the ability to expand their professional network and gain knowledge about non-profits serving Vietnamese communities.

Frequently Asked Questions
The basic qualifications and requirements for any organization to be considered for CPP funding are as followed:
- Organization must have 501(c)(3) or equivalent status as a non-profit
- The organization’s mission and purpose aligns with UNAVSA’s mission, vision, and values
- Must serve within the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community
- International organizations are welcome to apply
Involvement looks different year-to-year and UNAVSA’s job is to equip constituent schools and regions with the necessary information they need to inform their members. Constituent members and regions engage in collaboration as well as friendly competition with one another to fundraise money and raise awareness of the selected CPP Beneficiary. Member schools may pledge quantitative amounts annually to demonstrate the growth, sustainability, and involvement of their local VSA.
The best way to continue receiving information regarding the annual application process if not selected as the next beneficiary is to contact the CPP committee directly at [email protected]. We also recommend staying up to date with UNAVSA’s social media platforms. We are always open to exploring new ways to learn and partner with others!
Round 1 – Submitting the application:
The application consists of the CPP Application Form and an OPTIONAL video submission. These are reviewed by the CPP Preliminary Voting Board, which consists of the UNAVSA Executive Board, Cabinet Directors, and the CPP Selection Committee. A total of two to three organizations will be selected by the Preliminary Voting Board and will present their proposal to UNAVSA’s constituent members at our annual UNAVSA conference.
Round 2 – CPP Selection Session:
Each organization will present their purpose, goals and proposal to UNAVSA conference attendees. After presentations from each group, participants will discuss, comment, and ask questions about the organizations and their purpose. Attendees will then vote with their region for the organization they think deserves to be next year’s CPP Beneficiary. Results will be tabulated by the CPP Selection Committee and will be announced at the Gala Saturday evening.
