The annual CoRR Retreat is never in the same place and is always a brand new adventure! This is my third official CoRR Retreat and I am not looking back. The previous two years I went as a CoRR member and this year, I had the opportunity to lead the CoRR Retreat as UNAVSA’s IVP and have it hosted in my home town – Denver, CO! Every year enters a new group of regional representatives which means a new year of fresh ideas to progress their regions and strengthen their communities.
So, what is the point of CoRR Retreat and does any work happen? The answer: Imagine all the executive board retreats or even mini summits you’ve ever been to – a whirlwind of a weekend full of bonding, planning, and working to build up into the new year. Because of the nature of UNAVSA, everyone who is involved comes from all over continent so having the opportunity to see each other in person is always nice and looked forward to.
CoRR has always been notorious for nicknames like #hardcorr and #corrgies but I think this year tops it with #vaincorr. I mean, just look at them, their title stands true as a million selfies were taken over the weekend! It also helps that they were all smart, personable, and great looking. If you don’t know what we’re talking about, check out the photoshoot we did that weekend!
After a long productive day discussing about how to help out the regions and to collectively work together and learn about each other, there’s nothing better than a nice bowl of pho in Denver and bonding time at Dave & Busters. With that said, all of it was fun and games but the most exciting part of retreat was to see the leaders of the regions step up and to show their desire to take their regions to the next level with UNAVSA. There is so much more to come so be on the look out!
