Announcing our 11th Annual UNAVSA Leadership Conference theme
In October 2013, the Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (UNAVSA) gathered extraordinary individuals to take on the 11th Annual UNAVSA Leadership Conference. Throughout the following months, the team of two executive directors and eleven conference directors grew to a family of approximately sixty staff members.
In January 2014, staff members gathered together in Dallas, Texas for UNAVSA-11’s staff retreat. Throughout a weekend of activities, workshops, presentations and bonding staff members were not only able to become better prepared for conference planning, but they were able to become closer as a family. United in the four pillars of the vision for UNAVSA-11 (leadership, engagement, connection, and culture) the conference directors came together to decide this year’s theme. Without further ado, UNAVSA is proud to announce the theme for the 11th Annual UNAVSA Leadership Conference, “Together, Let’s Fly.”
To further explain the decision for the selected theme, the UNAVSA-11 marketing director quotes,
“As we look back at our ten years of hosting this incredibly life-changing conference, we think about the ‘Legacy’ we want to leave behind; we think about the obstacles that we have overcome as we ‘Bước Qua’ or ‘Step Through’ the hardships in our community; and we remember we always have our ‘Nơi Nươg Tựa (Safe Haven)’. All of these inspirations have pushed us to see opportunity ahead of us as we push ourselves on the edge and fly into a new decade of UNAVSA. Much like a flock of geese, if ever astray or exhausted, together we will support one another as we move forward to reach our goals in empowering the next generation of Vietnamese-American leaders.”
