ASU VSA’s 2nd Annual Winter Wonder Bungaloo: Midwinter MADness – Make a Difference
ASU VSA’s 2nd Annual Winter Wonder Bungaloo: Midwinter MADness – Make a Difference took place on January 17-19 in Prescott, Arizona. All 60 general members were able to experience a weekend of camaraderie, vulnerability, and leadership through participating in the family system, heart-to-heart, and informative workshops. The family system allowed members to create connections with others as well as explore their own vulnerabilities in a span of a weekend. This year, we gave general members an opportunity to step up as family leaders.
The workshops provided a hands-on opportunity for attendees to try something new, such as taking on the tasks of being a bobarista or learning how to lead a healthier lifestyle. The workshops also incorporated Asian/Asian-American and Vietnamese culture by highlighting how to combat issues in our communities and emphasizing that there are so many components that make up identities. Other aspects of Vietnamese culture were intertwined within the retreat schedule, such as our emphasis on Vietnamese food (like mi Tao) and segments like our Van Nghe (skits), which pushed families to explore their creative sides.
Winter Wonder Bungaloo allowed our members to not only make a difference and learn from each other, but to also create connections that would otherwise never have happened if we all weren’t put into a house in the middle of nowhere for a weekend.
